Patriotism plays a crucial role in shaping students’ civic identity, being a factor that makes a positive influence on the society. Educational institutions make a significant contribution to the education of patriotic values, especially in times of societal transformations marked by globalization and technological progress. Educational strategies must adapt to these changes in order to remain relevant and effective. However, there is a problem with integrating the processes of patriotic education and the shaping of civic identity, as these concepts are not clearly distinguished and their mutual influence on each other is not well understood. A deeper study to define their specifics, interrelations and mutual influences can help to develop effective strategies for integrating these areas into educational and upbringing programs. The article examines the concept of civic identity and its directions. The authors consider patriotic education as the primary direction of civic identity, defining it as a process aimed at fostering a sense of love for the Motherland, pride in belonging to one's nation, respect for national symbols and sacred values, knowledge of state holidays and participation in them, and readiness to engage in public events. Various classifications of patriotic education directions were reviewed, highlighting their important contribution to the shaping of civic identity. An analysis of the forms and means of patriotic education for students that contributing to the development of civil identity was conducted.
