The article is devoted to topical issues on the formation of a new research culture of students at the present stage of development of Russian society. The current understanding of students' research culture in scientific activity is considered. In the course of the research, it was revealed that there is no universal definition of a new research culture, which results in ambiguity of the notion and makes it difficult to develop effective strategies for its formation. The authors of the article develop and substantiate their own understanding of the phenomenon as a complex internal quality of a person manifested not only in mastering the methods of scientific work, but also in the development of critical thinking, the ability to ask questions, analyze data and strive for self-improvement. A new component of the research culture relevant in the context of ongoing digital transformation is highlighted. The main problems of the new research culture that prevent its formation among students are outlined. Prospects for the development of a new research culture aimed at increasing students' interest and developing their research skills are presented. The topic is relevant due to the need to cultivate a new research culture among students who would promote their comprehensive development and successful adaptation in an ever-changing world. The article will be of interest to teachers, students, researchers, as well as anyone interested in developing new research activities.
