The study substantiates the need to modernize higher education in response to the demands of the contemporary labor market and the value systems of Generation Z. The typological characteristics of Zoomers (Gen Z) and their impact on learning and professional development are examined. The authors analyze the expectations of Generation Z as a labor resource and the hiring preferences of employers recruiting Zoomers. A review of scholarly works and empirical studies on Gen Z behavioral strategies and preferred communication modes is presented. Emphasis is placed on communicative competence as a critical soft skill – a transprofessional competence enabling university graduates to adapt to workplaces, build effective relationships with supervisors and colleagues, and utilize modern business communication technologies. Through an analysis of undergraduate curricula across disciplines aimed at developing universal competence (UC-4), the rationale for selecting a «Communication Management» course is justified. The conclusion highlights the necessity of further research on fostering students’ communicative competence with generational specificity in mind.
