The authors have analyzed scientific approaches to determining the importance of physical culture for higher education teachers. The theoretical foundations and practical aspects of how a teacher's physical condition influences the effectiveness of the educational process have been examined. The results of a survey of university staff are presented, highlighting the significance and benefits of physical self-improvement for modern higher education instructors. Barriers hindering an active lifestyle have been identified, and preferred types of physical activity for teachers have been characterized. Special attention is given to the authors' proposed model of physical self-improvement, developed based on an analysis of scientific literature and survey data. This model includes a set of measures aimed at enhancing health, improving work efficiency, and extending the professional longevity of teachers. Methodological approaches to organizing physical activity, taking into account the specifics of pedagogical work in higher education, are described. The practical significance of the study lies in the potential application of the proposed recommendations for establishing a system of physical self-improvement among higher education teachers. The findings may serve as a foundation for further research on maintaining the professional health of academic staff.
