There is no doubt that the leading role in the implementation of educational tasks in the Russian Federation still belongs to schools. In modern, dynamically changing social realities, the problem of the increasing number of socially maladjusted adolescents, who develop various forms of deviant behavior alongside their maladjustment, is becoming increasingly urgent. In the presented article, the authors define the key problems of socially maladjusted adolescents that initiate the development of deviant behavior; significant aspects of the pedagogical potential of extracurricular activities that influence the formation of students’ value orientations and mitigate the development of deviations. The obtained theoretical conclusions became the basis for conducting experimental work aimed at their verification and achieving the specified goal. At the first stage, a study was conducted on the characteristics of socially maladjusted adolescents prone to deviant behavior. At the second stage, a program to prevent deviant behavior in these adolescents within the framework of extracurricular activities was developed. At the third stage, the created program was implemented, and at the fourth stage, a comparative analysis of the diagnostic results of the respondents participating in the program, obtained before and after its implementation, was conducted. A program for overcoming deviant behavior among socially maladjusted adolescents in extracurricular activities has been developed and presented for the attention of researchers. The effectiveness of the experimental work is confirmed by the diagnostic data collected at the ascertaining and control stages of the study.
