SCIENTIFIC STYLE MASTERY AS A COMPONENT OF A UNIVERSITY TEACHER PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE: A PROBLEM STATEMENT

The article substantiates the necessity for university teachers to study the theoretical foundations of style stratification of the Russian literary language, scientific style and its main sub-styles specific features. The typical problems of oral and written scientific texts written by university teachers-non-philologists are characterized, the reasons for their insufficiently high level of mastery of scientific style are indicated, the ways of solving the problem are proposed.
