The article substantiates the key feature of a modern society connected with the increase of mechanisms of legal regulation and civil society, which is based on the development of a legal culture. That makes the necessity of forming a personal legal culture acute. Law plays a regulative and normative role in a person’s life. It is proved that the preparation of a person for inclusion in legal relations begins in childhood through the formation of legal literacy (personal inclusion), legal competence (emotional inclusion), legal conviction (meaningful inclusion). It provides such an integrative personal education as the legal culture of personality. The formation of personal legal culture, which best meets the urgent tasks of society and the state, should begin as early as the school age. Age-specific features of the formation of legal culture, which affect the teacher’s work with students are revealed. The authors make conclusions that educational and informing activities are not enough to form a legal culture in a pupil, and that it is necessary to have successful experience of culturally appropriate living of events in school life (in and out of school, in the classroom and in extracurricular activities) in accordance with the norms of law and morality through awareness, acceptance, and approval of such a way of life.

Key words: legal literacy, legal competence, legal conviction, legal culture, age-specific features of a pupil, formation of a legal culture in a pupil
