This article studies gamification as a means of developing foreign language communicative competence of students within additional general education programs. The essence of the concept of «gamification» is examined from the point of view of domestic and foreign authors. The mechanics specific for gamification, which are used in educational space in general and in teaching English in particular, are named. The effect of the use of gamification technology in teaching a foreign language, using the example of the effectiveness of forming lexical and grammatical skills, improving reading techniques and developing other types of speech activity, is studied. The results of the effectiveness of integrating gamification into additional education were tested on the basis of the Astrakhan Regional Center for the Development of Creativity. Diagnostics of the assessment of the level of development of the educational program for the study of a foreign language is presented. The results of diagnostics before and after the pedagogical experiment are presented and described.
