PECULIARITIES OF ADAPTATION OF FOREIGN STUDENTS TO STUDYING AT RUSSIAN UNIVERSITIES

The process of adaptation of foreign students to studying at Russian universities has a number of peculiarities that influence the effectiveness of the formation of their professional competencies. Factors influencing adaptation may vary depending on the region of Russia, climatic and economic conditions, sociocultural differences, the specifics of the university, the specialty received, and many others. The research aims to theoretically review the approaches to studying the problems of adaptation of foreign students, and to empirically study (by a questionnaire) the peculiarities of adaptation of foreign students at Astrakhan State Medical University. According to the results of the questionnaire, the respondents most acutely feel the shortage of practical training at medical institutions, the lack of scientific literature in English and communication difficulties due to the language barrier.
