The importance of lexicographic literacy for developing communicative competence of future teachers is substantiated. It is noted that the basics of lexicographic literacy is the knowledge of the typology of dictionaries, the ability to select and work with them correctly. The informative potential of the Russian language dictionaries in developing communicative competence of future teachers, namely undergraduate students in non-philological pedagogical areas of training is characterized. The types of the Russian language dictionaries that make up the pedagogical lexicographic minimum are defined. The web-recourses containing authoritative lexicographic works are named. The most important moments in organising the work of students of pedagogical specialties with dictionaries are pointed out. The main communicative problems of students are enumerated. The ways to solve these problems by using the works on lexicography are proposed. The lexicographic literacy «profilisation» based on taking into account the school subjects taught is studied. Special attention is paid to the importance of consulting university teachers who do not have philological education on lexicographic literacy issues.
