SPORTS SOCIALIZATION OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AS A MEANS DEVELOPING LEADERSHIP QUALITIES

The work considers the student age as a period of origin of social outlook and interpersonal relations as an important stage of «entry into society» with determining a person’s «I», understanding and strengthening one’s positions in society. A special attention is paid to a physical and sports activity of students since such an activity always requires overcoming some difficulties, thus it is an effective way to develop leadership qualities. The essence of concept socialization is given from the points of view of Sociology, Law, Pedagogy, Psychology, Political and Cultural Sciences. The article contains the characteristics of stages of personality development and studies socialization agents as a factor in this process. The study reveals the essence of concept sports specialization and its characteristics as an continuous process. It is concluded that sports socialization is important for developing students’ leadership qualities. Possible problems in this process are studied and norms of successful student socialization, to which they should strive for, are identified.
