The problem of patriotic education of young students today is very important for the Russian society, because the future of our country will depend on the attitude of representatives of the young generation to the Motherland. The article considers the goals of patriotic education as the basis for the formation of society with citizens, possessing spiritual and moral qualities and the ability to act for the benefit of society. It is noted that patriotic education is an integral and complex combination of pedagogical tools, which provides an active impact on the consciousness and behavior of young people, it contributes to the full development of their potential and successful preparation for the performance of civic duties to the Motherland. One of the effective means of patriotic education of personality is cultural and leisure activities. The article shows the stages of experimental research on the formation of patriotic qualities of student youth through cultural and leisure activities.
