In modern Russia, patriotic values are coming to the forefront, but citizens' perceptions of them are contradictory: the older generation considers patriotism almost vital, while the younger generation often doubts the need to be patriotic. That is why today great attention is paid to the patriotic education of students. Educational institutions have a great responsibility to convey to young people the truth about the history of the Homeland, its customs and traditions, great achievements and significant events. As in any other type of education, modern methods and technologies, in particular the method of project activities, should be used in patriotic education. The purpose of this article is to review the features and possibilities of using project activities in the context of patriotic education at school and university. As a result of our research we came to the conclusion that the use of project activities in patriotic education has a number of features: it stimulates active participation of students, develops their socially important skills and qualities, contributes to the formation of civic identity and patriotic feelings. That is why the inclusion of project activities in the educational process is an important step in the patriotic education of the young generation.
