The research aims to theoretically substantiate and experimentally prove the pedagogical possibilities of post-COVID rehabilitation of the students of a special medical group (SMG) in physical education classes based on the functional Rockport test. Physical rehabilitation, which can improve the health status of students, has been identified as a need in the post-COVID period. The research on the use of the Rockport test in the scientific literature has been analyzed and summarized. The Rockport test procedure used in practical physical education classes at the university has been studied and the initial functional level of SGM students has been determined. Low impact cardio respiratory training has been developed and the positive dynamics of the levels of functional preparedness of the students have been presented. The possibility of post-COVID rehabilitation by means of introducing the proposed training program into physical education classes has been proven. The results of the study confirm that the determination of the initial functional state of SMG students is necessary for timely adjustments to the physical rehabilitation program, taking into account an individual approach to the students and optimal load scheduling in practical physical education classes at the university. The introduction of the proposed training program into the practice of physical education will contribute not only to health enhancement and preservation, but also to the increase of the general physical performance of SMG students.
