Widespread globalization, including in the information sphere, has blurred the boundaries between traditional education and electronic education, since every day the number of users in the educational segment is turning to Internet technologies. At the moment, the Internet is the most accessible resource, with unique content on absolutely any topic, which undoubtedly makes it more attractive for those who want to save their time and simplify the educational process. This situation is caused by an accelerated pace in the development of education, which increases the need for continuous advanced training of teachers and requires new technologies and forms. One of them is distance education (DE), the history of which is studied in the article. The article presents the analysis of the dynamics of the distance education market, and considers the positive and negative results of including distance education in the advanced training of specialists.
